Obituary of Douglas J. James

Douglas J. James Douglas J. James, 87, of Vestal, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Monday December 30, 2013. He was predeceased by his parents, Ivor & Lila James, and his brother Ivor Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, June James, one sister, Jean Barber, Mansfield, PA, his niece Sandy Wood, nephew Dennis MacDonald, several other nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces and great nephews and very special friends Colin Dimon and Sam the dog. Doug was a member of the Vestal Center United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the US Navy Sea Bee Division and fought in the Battle of Okinawa. He worked at the Jewel Tea Co. in Conklin, NY and was the Vice President of June's Gems. Doug was an avid hunter, fisherman, loved to bowl and enjoyed Timberline Lake in Pennsylvania. Special thanks to Dave and the staff of North Tower 3 at Wilson Hospital for the care given to Doug. A Funeral Service will be held at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC, 765 Main St. Vestal, Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Jeffrey Aiosa, Pastor of his church will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Doug can be made to the Vestal Center United Methodist Church, 478 West Hill Rd. Vestal, NY 13850.
