Obituary of Grace Willson

Grace Johnson White Willson Grace Johnson White Willson, 90, of Endwell, NY, died on December 31, 2013, after a short illness. She was born November 11, 1923, in Dickerson Run, PA to Charles and Gertrude Foreman. Grace graduated from Garfield Nursing School, Washington, D.C. in 1944 and was part of the Army Nurse Corp program. She would have served in World War II had the war not ended. She was also a charter member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church and unselfishly gave her time and talents serving as a Sunday school teacher and a member of both the choir and altar guild. She is survived by her husband, Harold and her three loving children, Elisabeth Whalen (John/Mokey), J. Alan Johnson (Janyce), and Jean Johnson Motherway (Joe). Survivors also include four stepchildren, Joan Morris, Diane White, Warren White, and Rick Willson; her eight grandchildren who affectionately call her "GG", Kathleen Whalen Pasquale (Angelo), Michael Whalen, Ryan Whalen, Christopher Whalen and fiance Ashly LaForce, Eric Johnson (Kim), Kyle Johnson (Brianne), Soren Johnson (Sara) and Daniel White; seven great-grandchildren, Vincent and Joseph Pasquale, Emma, Eric, Preston, Brockton, and Declan Johnson. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, MaryLou Foreman and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her first husband, J. Albert Johnson; and second husband, Raymond White. She was the last of her immediate family and was heartbroken that all her younger siblings predeceased her: Mable Taylor, Martha Foster, and Charles Foreman. After her husband, Albert, died she became mother and father to her three children, while working as a nurse at Wilson Hospital. She gave compassion when needed and discipline when required - the best love a parent can give. Grace was admired for her generosity and vivacious spirit. Though she experienced many heartbreaks during her life, she never lost her fortitude and sense of humor. Her unconditional love and support for her family never wavered. Let her life be an inspiration to all of us on how to pattern our lives. A Life of Inspiration There are few who can live life with passion Yet still practice discipline Who can experience sorrow Yet still find joy Who can live simply in life Yet still be wealthy in spirit Who can love unconditionally - With compassion, acceptance and unfailing support Thanks, MOM, for being one of those fewAnd sharing that gift with us.
