Doris L. Wickman
Doris L. Wickman went to be with her precious Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 1, at her home in Vestal, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harrold D. and Vera Rose Harris, as well as her sister Rosanna Dumbleton. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, L. Richard Wickman; sister June (Sandy) Hartraft, Virginia Beach, VA; daughter Cheryl (Don) Hoffman, Garner, NC; sons, Bob (Anne) Wickman, Endicott, NY and Bill (Pamela) Wickman, Vestal, NY and daughter Bonnie (Rick) Bullock, Barton, NY. Doris and Richard have many beloved grandchildren, Christopher (Laura) Hoffman, Cathy Jean Hoffman, Joseph (Kelcy) Wickman, Jeffrey (Natalie) Wickman, Jared Wickman (fiance Wendy Swanson), Joshua Wickman (fiance Katherine Hamilton), Lacey (Nick) Anglin, Benjamin Bullock (Rachel Woodburn), and Sarah Bullock (fianc Elijah Vaber). Their seven great-grandchildren are a source of joy to Doris and Richard: Cassandra, Christa, Abigail and Emily Wickman, Isabella and Zachary Hoffman, and Nolan Anglin. Doris Louise (Harris) Wickman was born on January 7, 1931 in Hinman's Corners, Binghamton, NY. She met Richard on a double-date with her sister Rosanna and they were married on June 4, 1949. Richard and Doris have been longstanding members of Calvary Baptist Tabernacle where she served as a Pioneer Girl counselor and on the Mission Aides committee. After caring fulltime for her four children until they were all in school, Doris drove school bus for the Vestal Central School District for nearly 25 years. She enjoyed the kids that she came to know and watch grow over those years, priding herself in a spotless safety record. Doris loved to knit and crochet items for her family, spent many hours caring for her flower beds and took great pleasure in decorating her home for Christmas. Doris and Richard have always cherished hosting their family for holidays and special occasions and were blessed to celebrate this Christmas surrounded by a houseful of loved ones. Friends wishing to express their sympathies will be greeted on Saturday, January 4 from 11AM - 12PM at Calvary Baptist Tabernacle, 729 Main Street, Vestal, NY 13850. A memorial service will commence at noon. A private graveside interment service will be held on Monday at Vestal Park & Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to New Life - Vestal Church (Vestal) or Calvary Baptist Tabernacle (Vestal) in memory of Doris.
