He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, John and Tom; and a sister, Annabel. He is also survived by a brother, Robert McConnon, Maryland; and several nieces and one nephew. He was known for his love of life and sense of humor. He graduated from Albany College of Pharmacy and owned and operated Union Pharmacy in Endicott for thirty years. During this time, many young people cam through the doors of the pharmacy and worked for Mr. McConnon. He was a mentor, an example of good work ethics and a friend to all of them. Even in his nineties some stopped to see him. He was a Rotarian and a member of many other community groups over the years. He dearly loved nature, animals and sports. Most of all he adored his family who affectionately named him "Georgie".
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family.
