Henry C. Jennings
Of Vestal
Henry C. Jennings, 83, of Vestal, died July 7, 2007. He was predeceased by his wife, Anne, in 1991. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Richard Whelan, New York City; and a son, Peter, Binghamton. He is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Agnes and Charles Hope, Knoxville, Tenn; a sister-in-law, Marie Jennings, Sayre, PA; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Sayre High School and Ithaca College, and was an employee of the I.B.M. Corporation for 32 years and a member of the I.B.M. Quarter Century Club. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII with the 787th Combat Military Police Battalion and was awarded two Battle Stars and a Presidential Citation for bravery. He was a member of VFW Post 1536, Sayre, Pa and American Legion Post 1700 in Endicott. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal, and loved golfing, gardening, his family, friends, people in general and his country. He was a lifelong Chicago Cubs and Notre Dame fan and will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Mental Health Association of the Southern Tier, 153 Court St, Binghamton, NY 13901, the memorial fund of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 157 Clark Street, Vestal, NY, 13850, or to the charity of your choice, in his memory. Do not shed any tears, but help fellow needy people who can use a friendly helping hand and smile, a pat on the back and assistance to those in need.
A Funeral Mass will be offered 10:00 a.m., Saturday at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Vestal. Burial will be 2:00 p.m. at Bradford County Memorial Park, Towanda, PA. The family will receive friends 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00, Friday at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main St., Vestal, NY
