Obituary of Antoinette Prudenzano

Antoinette Spano Prudenzano Of Waverly, NY Formerly of Utica, NY and Owego, NY Antoinette Spano Prudenzano went to be with her Most Precious Lord on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at the Tioga Nursing Facility in Waverly, NY. She now joins her beloved husband, Peter, with whom she shared 61 loving and caring years. Antoinette was born in Utica, NY on May 23, 1911 to Peter and Christina (DeSalvo) Spano, who predeceased her. She is also predeceased by a brother, Joseph Spano, and sisters, Rose (Carciofolo) Alberico, Josephine Rizzo and Anna Shiro. She is also predeceased by daughter-in-law, Patricia Nagle Prudenzano. Antoinette is survived by her loving and devoted son, Salvatore Prudenzano of Apalachin, NY and his loving and dear friend, Dawne Gould, who has been like a daughter to Antoinette; and Dawnes family. She is survived by her beloved grandchildren; Peter Prudenzano of Miami Beach, Fl, and Susan Gresham and her husband, Tim; two great-grandsons, Nicholas and Anthony of Abingdon, Va. She is also survived by three Goddaughters: niece, Lucy Washburn and husband Elmer; Josephine (Federico) Stathes and husband Bill; and Rose (Marasco) Dekime, all of Utica, NY. Antoinette had been a resident in the Tioga Nursing Facility, Waverly, NY for the past three and one-half years and, before that, she lived in Tioga Senior Living in Waverly, NY and Longmeadows in Owego, NY. Before relocating to Tioga County, she lived in Utica, NY for 87 years where she was educated, met and married Peter and, together, raised their family. She worked in the knitting and garment industries for many years and became an avid sewer and needle crafter. She was a regular member of the East Utica Senior Center; but her true passion was cooking and baking for family and friends. Antoinette was a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church of Utica, NY, where she received her sacraments. She was an active member of sodalities at Mount Carmel and St. Anthony of Padua Churches and a member of the choir at St. Marys Church, all in Utica, NY Antoinettes family would like to thank the nursing staff on the second floor of Tioga Nursing Facility in Waverly, NY and Lourdes Hospice for their compassionate attention and care given to her during her last few days on earth. Her family also appreciates and thanks the many visits and prayers and Communion from Father Tom and the pastoral staff of Trinity parish. In lieu of flowers, Antoinettes family suggests a thoughtful donation to an organization of your choice or to one of her churches in Utica, NY. A Funeral Mass for Antoinette will be offered at 11:30 a.m. at her home Parish of St. Mary of Mount Carmel- Blessed Sacrament Church, 648 Jay Street, Utica, NY on Thursday, July 26, 2007. Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Yorkville, NY. For her friends and family in Utica, the family will receive friends at the Church from 11:00 a.m. until Mass time at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday. The family will receive friends in Apalachin on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 from 4:00 6:00 p.m. at the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, St. Rt. 434, Apalachin, NY.
