Obituary of Edna M Messersmith

Edna M. Messersmith Of Endicott/Newark Valley Edna Messersmith died August 3, 2007 at the Ideal Senior living Center, Endicott, NY. She was born August 14, 1917 in Endicott, NY, the daughter of the late Mary and Anthony Mikucky. She was predeceased by her husband, Collins Messersmith; and sisters, Jenny Deering, Helen Shear; and brother, Henry Olecki. Edna is survived by her daughters and son, Patricia Messersmith, Pinehurst, NC, Barbara Pitcher, Endwell, NY and Robert Messersmith and wife, Karen, Newark Valley, NY. She is also survived by the light of her life, her grandchildren, Jeff Pitcher (Wife, Shelly), Plattsburgh, NY and Gary Pitcher (wife, Lisa), Forest, Va; and her wonderful great-grandchildren, Colt and Chase Pitcher, Allie and Kyle Pitcher. She is also survived by her sisters, Veronica Lunga and Wanda Brown and husband, Tom; and brothers-in-law, Bryan Deering and Donald Messersmith; and sister-in-law, Marie Olecki; along with many special nieces and nephews. She retired from the Maine-Endwell School system as a school lunch manager and the Bon-Ton store. She was proud of her Polish heritage and loved to Polka. Her Cookie Family will certainly miss their Queen Monarch. The family would like to thank the Ideal Senior Living Center (on both sides of the street) for the most wonderful care, compassion, and concern that the entire staff exhibited during Ednas time there. A funeral service for Edna will be held 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at the Union Center United Methoidst Church, 128 Maple Dr., Union Center, NY. The Rev. R. Brown Naik, Pastor of the Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive friends at the church Tuesday from 11:00 a.m.until service time at 12:00 p.m. Instead of flowers, Ednas wishes were that anyone considering a contribution to please donate to Aurora of Central New York, Inc., 518 James Street, Syracuse, NY 13203-2282, to assist the blind in honor of her sister, Veronica Lunga.
