Matthew F. Rennie, Jr.
Of West Corners
Matthew F. Rennie Jr., 82, of West Corners, died Wednesday morning, November 14, 2007, at his home. He was born November 10, 1925, to Adelaide Dibble and Matthew F. Rennie Sr., in Johnson City, NY. He was predeceased by both parents; his stepmother, Viola Rennie, a sister, Betty Decker and her husband, Raymond. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn (Hoyt) Rennie; and seven children, Steven (Phonda) Rennie, Beth (Eric) Holmgren, LouAnn (Paul) Crist, Elaine Rennie, Janice (Paul) Leitem, Susan Rennie, Matthew (Heather) Rennie; 17 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, his sister, Mary Matulewicz and her husband, Norbert, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a graduate of Union-Endicott High School, Houghton College and Faith Seminary. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific theater during WWII. He pastored churches in New Jersey and New York during a 50 year ministry. He loved his Lord, his wife and family, and fishing with his grandsons.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday at the West Endicott Baptist Church. The Rev. Robert McGehee, Pastor of the church, will officiate. The family will receive friends 1:30 2:00 p.m., Saturday at the church. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Binghamton General, Lourdes and Wilson Memorial Hospitals for the care given him during the past 4 years. Also many thanks to Broome Day Services and especially Lourdes Hospice for their help. And, of course, many friends too munerous to mention, lest we forgot someone. He is home at last.
