Obituary of Nancy J Mikels

Nancy J. Mikels of Endicott Nancy J. Mikels, 71, of Endicott, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at her home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard, in 2008; a brother, Robert Stoddard and a sister, Kathryn Bennett. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Karen Mikels, Bruce and Cindy Mikels, Endicott; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Mark Holbrook, Montrose, Pa., Susan and Kenneth Jorgensen, Nanuet, N.Y., Sheila and Dan Stulir, Endwell; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandson; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Marlene and Jerry Cooney, Maine, N.Y. and Mae Stoddard, Montrose, Pa. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Florida. She loved her cake decorating and made many wedding cakes in the area. She loved her crocheting and was an avid craftsmaker. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Harris and the staff of Broome Oncology and Lourdes Hospice and Marybeth and Linda for their loving care of Nancy. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed by her family and friends. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 12 Noon from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 300 E. Main St., Endicott. The Rev. David Cook, pastor of the West Corners Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Old Vestal Rd., Vestal, N.Y. 13850.
