Lucille May (Toft) Lupole
Of Johnson City, NY

Lucille May (Toft) Lupole, 84, of Johnson City went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 17, 2008 while surrounded by her family at Binghamton General Hospital after an extended illness. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Edith Toft; her son, Jack Lupole; her granddaughter, Hollie (Lupole) Fletcher; and her infant great-grandson Josiah Taylor Moravek. Lucille is survived by her loving, devoted husband of 65 years, James Robert (Bob) Lupole; her son, Ken Lupole of Johnson City; her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Tim Noyes of Horseheads, NY.; her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Kathy Lupole of Oxford, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Jeff Lupole, Jason Lupole, Lisa (Noyes) Moravek, Jill (Noyes) Rodrigues, Amy (Noyes) Foster, and Angie (Noyes) Hillegass; twenty-one great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Bernard and Lois Lupole, Marion Makarowski, Don and Kate Lupole, Shirley Noyes, and Keith and Dody Lupole; several nieces and nephews; and close friends. Lucy loved her family deeply and was a devoted wife and mother. She passed on her rich musical heritage to her children and grandchildren, and faithfully taught them to love and serve her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Lucille was a graduate of Union-Endicott High School, and was employed by IBM prior to joining the WAC, Womens Army Corp, during WWII. She and husband Bob both served their country during WWII. After being discharged from the Service, Lucy and Bob bought their first home on lower Tracy Creek Road and began their family. During those years of rearing their four children, Lucy used her musical talents in many ways. She served the Lord as an organist/pianist/instrumentalist/choir director/vocalist at many area churches such as : Tracy Creek Memorial, Ross Corners Baptist, Fairmont Park Baptist, Hooper Road Christian Union Church, St. Pauls Methodist Church, Campville Methodist Church, Union Baptist Church, Owego Baptist Church, Tracy Creek Christian Union Church, Church of the End Times in Warren Center, Ascension Lutheran in Binghamton, and Redeemer Lutheran in Binghamton. Lucy also used her musical talents as the organist for numerous weddings and funerals. She enjoyed playing the following instruments at many programs and locations: organ, piano, keyboard, musical saw, cowbells, accordion, coronet, violin, Hawaiin guitar, melodica, harpsichord, and ukulele. She performed and won ribbons at the talent contests at both the Broome County Fair and the Old Mill Village. She was a violinist in the Binghamton Community Orchestra; she was the pianist at the IBM Retirees Dinners; she was the choir director of the Vestal Senior Citizens chorus; she also performed many musical programs at the following locations: Scotts Oquaga Lake House, senior citizens dinners, many nursing homes and Ladies Luncheons. She was a piano and organ instructor and she sang and performed in a ladies trio. She was a member of the Owego Christian Womens Club. Lucy also studied and became a Licensed Practical Nurse during the 1960s. She graduated from the Binghamton School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse at Ideal Hospital and Willowpoint Nursing Home. She was also employed at the Endicott Johnson Compensation office.
Some of Lucys many talents, hobbies and interests included: knitting, crocheting, quiltmaking, afghan-making, doing needlepoint, rug hooking, cross-stitching, doll-making, sock monkeys, macram chair making, baking, cooking, homemaker, gardening and canning, collecting Austrian crystals, Bible studying and reading, reading of good books, collecting dolls and stuffed animals and puzzles.
Lucy was a woman we deeply loved, admired and respected. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral Services for Lucy will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main St., Vestal. The Rev. David Rising, Pastor of the Bethel Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Knox Cemetery at a later date. Family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 4:30 at the funeral home.
