Obituary of Elizabeth B. Haroldson

Elizabeth B. Haroldson Of Johnson City Elizabeth B. Haroldson, 92, formerly of Lakehurst, NJ, passed away peacefully in the presence of family at the James G. Johnston Nursing Home, Johnson City, NY on February 3, 2008. She was born in Duluth, Minnesota. She lived in Lakehurst, NJ for twenty years before relocating to Johnson City before retiring. Elizabeth was the assistant to the president of Brookdale Community College in Lincroft, NJ and an active volunteer for local hospitals, as well as the American Red Cross. She was an avid reader and always up for the challenge of a good crossword puzzle. Elizabeth delighted in being in the company of friends and family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren. She was a graduate of Duluth Jr. College. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, John C. Haroldson, who died in 1987 after forty-five years of marriage. She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Hargrave, Vestal, NY; one son, John D. Haroldson, Philadelphia, PA; four granddaughters, Elizabeth Pitel, Woolwich, NJ; Katherine Perry, Oneonta, NY, J. Rebecca Hargrave, Norwich, NY, and Emma Reuss, Albuquerque, N. Mexico; two great-grandsons, David and Alexander Pitel, Woolwich, NJ. At Elizabeths request, there will be no calling hours. A Funeral Mass for Elizabeth will be offered on Saturday, February 9, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Vestal, NY. Burial will be at the familys convenience in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ alongside her WWII Navy veteran husband, John. Because of Elizabeths love for all growing things, a section of the Story Garden at the Discovery Center is dedicated in her name. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make contributions in her memory to the Junior League of Binghamton in support of The Story Garden in care of Junior League of Binghamton, 31 Front St., Binghamton, NY 13905.
