Obituary of Richard W Cassin

Richard W. Cassin, Jr.of Endicott Richard W. Cassin, Jr., 86, passed on to be with the rest of his family, Mina and Richard Cassin, Sr.; his beloved daughter, Penny Lynn Cassin; and son, Robert Cassin; his sister, Eleanor Falso; and brother, Robert. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen Zeock Cassin; and special nieces and nephews, Sandi Frear and husband, Bill, Jane Porter, Gerry Porter and wife, Georgie, John Porter, Frank Hunsinger, Sue and Mark Spence, and Cherri and Mule Miller; also brother-in-law, John Zeock and wife, Isabelle; as well as numerous other relatives. Richard also thought of Conner Nalepa as a grandson. A very special thank you to caregivers, Dawn Gaeta, Anne Kristof and Sue and Steve Kushner. He was a veteran of WWII and was with the Army's "K" Company on D-Day on Normandy Beach. While serving in nine battles, he was awarded two Purple Hearts and numerous other medals. Richard was a lifetime member of American Legion Post #1700 where he served as Post Commander and was a dedicated Honor Guard member, and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1449. Richard worked as a machinist at IBM for over 30 years before retiring in 1984. Funeral and interment services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. from the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 300 East Main Street, Endicott. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 1-3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Lung Association, 587 Main St., Suite 109, New York Mills, N.Y. 13417.
