Obituary of Bertha Kouterick

Bertha Elizabeth (Johnston) Kouterick of Endwell Bertha Elizabeth (Johnston) Kouterick, 82, of Endwell, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at her home. She was predeceased by her parents, George and Mary; and four brothers, Edward, Frank, Reamer and Harry. She is survived by her loving spouse of 62 years, Ralph; and brothers, Arthur, and his wife, Sandy, and Donald and his wife, Philomena. She is also survived by one daughter, Karen Corcoran (Thomas); and four cherished grandchildren, Kasey Chobot (Jason), Collin, Kyle and Kerry Corcoran; and one great-grandson, Connor Chobot. Bea graduated from Union-Endicott High School, Class of 1946, and was an original member of the Birdsall Street Gang. She attended and received her cosmetology license from the Austin School of Beauty, Albany, and set up shop in the basement of her mother's West Endicott home. Here she took care of all her neighbors and friends. She spent many years at the Endicott AAA on Washington Ave. as the Trip-Tik girl helping everyone plan their vacation travels. In her retirement she took up travel herself and enjoyed touring the United States with Ralph and Karen. She enjoyed her arts and crafts and compiled an extensive collection of all types of Angels. She was very proud of her Scottish heritage and took a detailed family tree journal with pictures dating back to her early ancestors. Bea enjoyed reading a good cook book, loved to bake her famous Welsh stone cakes, and made a great homemade Kaluha. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Endicott, and its Ladies Circle. In lieu of flowers, those wishing can contribute to the charity of their choice in her memory. Funeral services for Bea will be held at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 300 E. Main St., Endicott, on Saturday, March 14, at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 13, from 7 to 9 p.m.
