Uncle Ray and I spent some time together and he taught me a few "tricks of the trade". They ranged from fixing a gouge in a nice piece of furniture to hand sewing an edge on a living room rug. One Christmas eve at mom's Uncle Ray had made a donation to my spending money fund and I figured the Federal boys did not know how to "cut on the line" so I was quietly minding my own business trimming the white waste edge off the money I had just gotten and boy that did not go over well! But I was taught to cut straight and square! From what I understand Uncle Ray and Jackie shared an apartment for a year or so and I guess the bachelor pad needed hoeing out every now and then.
He sure was a great "Uncle Ray", but some day our paths will cross again, see you later Uncle Ray.......
