Obituary of Burton E Groats

Burton E. Groats Burton E. Groats of Apalachin Burton E. Groats, 98, of Apalachin, joined his Savior and his family in heaven on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at the Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Muriel (Sis) Groats; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Burton and Bonnie Groats and Charles Groats; and a granddaughter, Kaitlyn. He is survived by two grandchildren, Scott and wife, Julie Groats, Apalachin, Stacy Dufresne, Flower Mound, TX; three great-grandchildren, Jordan, Justin and Kirsten; close family friends, David and DeDe Stephens, Tom and Terry Card, Wilbert and Charlene Barret; several nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Little Meadows United Methodist Church, a retired employee of the Endicott Johnson Corp. and a member of Maine Masonic Lodge #399 F. & A.M. for over 75 years. Funeral and Interment Services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., State Route 434, Apalachin. The Rev. Mary Jean Simonin, pastor of his church, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Apalachin at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Sunday, from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Apalachin Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 572, Pennsylvania Ave., Apalachin, NY 13732 or to the Little Meadows United Methodist Church.
