Obituary of Adolph Edward Erat

Adolph Edward Eratof Endicott Adolph Edward Erat, 86, of Endicott, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2008, of Melanoma Cancer. He was born in Silver Lake Township, Pa. in 1922 and was the son of the late Adolph and O'Tilly Erat. He was also predeceased by a sister, Bertha Krupa; a brother, William Terry; and a grandson, Ronald Erat. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Florence Erat, who resides in Endicott; his sister, Eleanor Caterson, Montrose, Pa.; two sons, Ronald and Bonnie Erat, Apalachin, and Richard Erat and Carol Miles, Syracuse; two daughters, Donna and Thomas Powers, Oxford, N.J., and Karen and John Wolanski, State College, Pa.; 11 grandchildren, Shawn and Tony Olszewski, Connie and Todd Kopalek, Kelly and Josh Wolff, Daniel Erat and Tara Blend, Christopher Erat, Robin and Jeremiah Neal, Rebecca Powers and Jack Keller, Jessica and Walter Heeger, Amanda Powers and Vincent Furia, Nicole and William Potoczny, Eric Wolanski and Kristin Reed; nine great-grandchildren, Katelyn Heeger, Madeline Olszewski, Evan Olszewski, Shane Olszewski, Alexandra Kopalek, Gabriella Kopalek, Camryn Kopalek, Luke Wolff, and Julia Wolff, plus one on the way any day now. Adolph worked for Endicott-Johnson for many years in the Triple Cities and also worked for Tri-Cities Metals in West Corners and retired from Endicott Machine & Tool as a welder. Adolph also owned and operated his own paving business for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and most of all he took great pride in tending his home, floral and vegetable garden. He loved and tried his best at playing golf in his later years, especially at Apalachin Golf Course. Funeral services for Adolph will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. from the Grace Lutheran Church, 709 Main Street, Vestal, with the Rev. Dr. Larry E. Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in Riverhurst Cemetery, Endicott. The family will receive their friends on Tuesday evening, July 1, 2008, from 6-9 p.m. at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 East Main Street, Endicott, and also on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Friends wishing are asked to make donations in his memory to the Grace Lutheran Church, 709 Main Street, Vestal.
