Obituary of Alva June Arnold

A. June Arnoldof Apalachin Cherished wife, mother and grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 21, 2008, following a brief illness. June was born on November 30, 1929 in Ilion, N.Y. She graduated from Elmira Southside High School in 1947. She was predeceased by her parents, Floyd and Florence Adams; and sister, Evelyn Hall. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Bill; and her five children, Michael and Dotti Arnold, Vestal, N.Y., Marsha and John Gana, Little Meadows, Pa., Thomas and Debra Arnold, Owego, N.Y., David and Beth Arnold, Johnson City, N.Y., and Joseph Arnold and Sunday, Apalachin, N.Y. She is also survived by grandsons, Matthew, Justin, Nathan and Joshua Arnold; and brothers, Gene and Ward Adams; special nephews and nieces, Tedd and Carol, Brenda, Donna, Joyce, Stu and Lynn; special friend, Pat; and numerous friends and neighbors. June was a lifelong member of St. Margaret Mary's Church in Apalachin, N.Y. She was a former employee of Canada Dry, and of Waterman Conservation Center in Apalachin, N.Y. June enjoyed her volunteer work over the years at her church, but being a wife, mother and grandmother gave her the greatest joy. She loved participating in her grandchildren's various activities. Her kind heart and sense of humor will always be remembered. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, August 6 at 11 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary's Church in Apalachin, N.Y. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 9 - 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will immediately follow at Riverside Cemetery on Marshland Rd. in Apalachin. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in June's memory to the Ronald McDonald House of Central New York, 1027-29 East Genesee Street, Syracuse, N.Y. 13210 (rmhc.com).
