C. Robert "Bob" Choynowski
Vestal: Bob Choynowski, 69, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Friday, May 23, 2014, at his home. He was predeceased by his parents, Clem and Mildred Choynowski. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy Choynowski; two daughters and sons-in-law, Christine Choynowski, Vestal, and Lori and Michael McKenney, Mechanicsburg, PA; three grandchildren, Hope, Katelyn, and Ryan McKenney; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Mary Choynowski, Binghamton; sisters-in-law, Joann McNerney, Patricia Bidwell, and Karen Famera; a special niece and nephew, John Choynowski and his wife Carla and Jennifer Ameen and her husband Rob; as well as other loved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, close friends; and his beloved cat, Scooter. Bob graduated from Broome Tech and Harper College. He was a devoted IBM employee for 30 years. After retiring from IBM in 1995, he turned his love and talent of woodworking into a second career. Numerous families in the area have a piece of Bob's work in their homes. Bob also enjoyed fishing, boating, times at the cottage, golfing trips to Myrtle Beach, feeding all the dogs in the neighborhood, and most of all any time spent with his family - especially his dearest grandchildren. He will be missed by his breakfast buddies at the diner. Bob was a longtime member of Vestal United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held at Vestal United Methodist Church, 328 Main St., Vestal, on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. Pastor Michael K. Willis will officiate. Burial will be in Chenango Valley Cemetery, Hillcrest. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Bob may be made to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Old Vestal Rd., Vestal, NY 13850 or to Vestal United Methodist Church, Memorial Fund, 328 Main St., Vestal, NY 13850.
