Obituary of Norma J. Armstrong

Norma Joyce Armstrong Vestal: Norma Joyce (Eggleton) Armstrong, 76, of Vestal, passed away on Sunday, May 25, 2014, after a long and happy life. She is predeceased by her husband of 56 years, William; her parents, Clarence and Jane; and her siblings, Ann, Bob, and David. She is survived by her children, Daniel William (Evans, GA), Susan Eileen (Johnson City, NY) and Karen Jane (Vestal, NY), their spouses, Elissa, Richard, and Barbara; and her six grandchildren, Michael, Brian, Ellen, Kaylee, Ethan and William. She is also survived by five of her nine siblings, Chet, Donny, Jane, Elaine and Ruth. Norma traveled extensively in her life and enjoyed seeing and experiencing new things. She was a gardener, a painter, a friend, a practical joker, a mom, a nurturer, a grandma, a reader, a wife, a doll collector, a bargain shopper, and a kindhearted listener. She loved swimming in her pool with her children and grandchildren every summer and always found the time to tell them stories over hot chocolate on a snowy winter day. She was a longtime active member of the Vestal Sertoma Club, the Johnson City Senior Center watercolor painting class, and the Southern Tier Antique Truck and Engine Clubs. Friends and family will be received on Thursday, May 29, at Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main St., Vestal, NY from 4-6 p.m. A memorial service will immediately follow. Burial will take place at Vestal Hills Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
