Obituary of Mildred J. Peckham Rood

Mildred J. Peckham Rood of Maine Mildred J. Peckham Rood (Millie), 69, of Maine, went home to be with her Lord, Monday, March 30, 2009, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. She was born April 14, 1939 in Scranton, PA to Roy and Mildred (Goodline) Peckham. Millie was predeceased by her loving husband, William. She is survived by her children, Mimi Wilber, Wisconsin, Candi and Kevin Martin, Wisconsin, Billy and Susanne Hart Rood, New Jersey, and Mandi Rood, New Jersey; beloved grandmother of her special angels, Kori, Abbie, Nora and Owen Martin; and "Sissy" to Roy and Ann Marie Peckham, Ernie and Pat Peckham and Bob and Bev Peckham. Millie was a longtime member of the Union Center United Methodist Church, where she served as secretary for several years. Millie especially cherished her Sunday School friends and enjoyed going to country and western concerts with her good friends, Barbara Allen and Jean Warfield. The funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m., Saturday at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 E. Main St., Endicott. The Rev. Brown Naik, Pastor of the Union Center United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Maine Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 4, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Vestal Nursing Center, 860 Old Vestal Rd., Vestal, NY 13850; or Broome County Council of Churches CHOW Program, 3 Otseningo St., Binghamton, NY 13903, in Millie's memory.
