Obituary of Geraldine M. Gilyard

Mrs. Geraldine Marie Gilyard passed away peacefully in Dover, DE on September 4, 2014 after a short illness. Geraldine (Gerry) was predeceased by her loving husband, Charles H. Gilyard; father and mother, Mathew and Marie Butler and brothers, Keith and Merle Butler. She is survived by her daughter, Corinna Marie and son-in-law, James Fritsch of Dover DE; son, Richard Dennis and daughter-in-law, Elaine Gilyard of Endicott; son, Todd Arthur Gilyard of Endicott and son, Scott Butler Gilyard of Philadelphia PA. Geraldine (Grammy) is also survived by seven grandchildren, Noelle Marie Leonard, Temple Purinton, Brandy Greenleaf, Tyler, Kelsey, Zack and Kyle Gilyard. Grammy also has three great grandchildren Vaughn, Brando and Hagan Purinton. Mrs. Gilyard was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army Nurse Corps in Europe where she met her husband Charles. Gerry spent many years as a private duty nurse and retired from Ideal and Wilson Hospitals. Calling hours will be on Monday, September 8th from 11:00 to 12:00 at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home in Endicott. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army or Central Methodist Church, Nanticoke Avenue Endicott, NY.
