To the family - I am sorry to just learn of Joan's passing. To her family - you probably have never met me. But if I may share these memories:
Francis Henry studied the Bible with my mom near end of WWII. We began to attend the meetings of Jehovah's Witnesses on the 3rd floor rental on Congress Street in down-town Troy, New York. There my parents and I met Dick and Bunny Kepner along with Joan.
The closest Tuesday congregation Bible Study was at the Kepner's place in North Troy. Dick was the conductor - we were studying "Life in the New World" Dick and Bunny became our families dearest and closest friends, along with Richard and Bee Henry.
Joan had moved away from home , and our family moved to California. Though my parents have died, we have many 35mm slide pictures of our families BBQing, etc.
I was sad to here when there was a fire on the 2nd story apartment. What a tragedy! Dick was an super photographer and helped me from my early ears. I hope some of his photos survived even if damaged, for they are a treasure of life in the Troy Congregation.
I look forward to seeing them in Jehovah's new order.
agape,
Gary Lapp , son of Harold and Lillian Lapp , formerly Wynantskill New York - Troy Congregation

Momma, It is hard to believe you are gone, but I think I can speak for all of your kids when I say....thank you...thank you for being a good Mom! And we all are so relieved that you are not sick and in pain anymore! I love you, and if God willing, I will see you once again!

Near the end, one of the last things she expressed to me personally was when I asked her if there was anything that she needed or wanted , & after a brief pause , she looked at me & said yes , to make my kids happy .
Rest assured , She truly Loved her kids .

I'm going to miss mom very much it was a delight to get to spend time with her and get to know her again these past 3 years since she moved back to Apalachin. She taught me a lot and always made me laugh. I see a lot of her in my brothers and sisters and those qualities will live on in all of us.

Rest in peace Grandma "Jones" (that's what I called her when I was little. Not realizing that it was actually "Joan"). I will fondly remember my week long Summer time stays with her and Grampa Mick. Thursday nights, after church, eating pizza and watching Carol Burnett. Days spent swimmimg, climbing trees in her backyard or wandering around Apalachian followed by her amazing lasagna for dinner. She will be missed. Her spirit will live on- especially through the generations of future chefs and food lovers she inspired.

As one of her six children, I would like to express my condolences to my other family members, my sisters and brothers and all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. We all have lost an amazing woman to this horrible disease of cancer, and we all are pained in different ways. I will miss my Mom, her sense of humor and her wit, and her kind eyes that looked at you so full of love, even when she was angry at you! Thank you to all who have shared kind words and thoughts on here as well as other means. Sleep well Momma love you forever and always~~~

I have so many fond memories of visiting my grandmother. I loved playing with her cats and looking through her drawers and drawers of buttons! She was such an amazing woman and she will be missed.

On behalf of myself and my family I wish to thank everyone for your kind words, cards, and gestures of love these past few weeks. Although we live in expectation we will someday lose our parents it is still not easy to accept but our friends and family help to take away the sting of death. Thank you.
