Obituary of Kenneth E. Waibel
Apalachin: Kenneth E. Waibel, 72, of Apalachin, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at his home on Friday January 30, 2015. He was predeceased by his parents, Earl and Edith Waibel, stepmother, Marjorie Waibel, brothers; Wayne and Greg Waibel. He is survived by his loving wife, Pauline Waibel, sons and daughters-in-law; Erik and Mary Waibel, Jason and Maggie Waibel, grandchildren; Brett, Alyssa and Jacob, sister, Robin (Skye) Havens, several nieces and nephews. Ken retired from IBM and the US Postal Service. He worked for NASCAR and was the head scorer and handicapper for many local racetracks in the area. He was the former President and flagger of the Southern Tier Microd Club and NYS Microd Association. Ken was an avid bowler who was inducted into the Endicott Bowling Association Hall of Fame and was the Junior Bowling Director for many years at Midway Lanes. He was also the Secretary of the Endicott Sportsman for many years. Ken was a US Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 401, Owego. Ken loved watching his grandchildren play all of their sports. He had a love for taking care of his feline friends especially Chewi. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday February 3, 2015, at 1 pm at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC, 300 E. Main St. Endicott. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 10 am until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Ken may be made to the Animal Care Council, 131 Washington Ave., Endicott, NY 13760.
