Obituary of Joyce E. Safford
Joyce E. Safford, 75, passed from death into eternal life with her Lord Jesus Christ on February 2, 2015 at Good Shepherd Village in Endwell. She was predeceased by her identical and inseparable twin sister Joanne Safford, her brother David Safford, and Rosemary, David's beloved wife. She was a terrific aunt to her brother David's family: Steven & Dubey and Benjamin Safford; Stuart & Virginia, Shannon, Andrew, and Christopher Safford; Thomas Safford; and Joseph & Judy Safford. Her Safford cousins, Patricia Rauch, Norma Van Allen, and Gladys Stewart, also dearly loved Joyce as a sister. Joyce, too, had numerous Chandler cousins who would often gather together in grand reunions. Joyce, along with her sister Joanne, worked at General Electric and Lockheed Martin in Westover for 30 years. She was a faithful member of West Endicott Baptist Church, where Joyce and Joanne sang in the choir, decorated the sanctuary, and lovingly prepared bulletins, directories, and reports, knowing that their labors were not in vain in the Lord. Joyce and Joanne, like their parents, Francis and Alberta, loved gardening and would spend hours maintaining trees, lawns, gardens, and flower beds. Joyce also enjoyed family gatherings at her home, with she and Joanne preparing festive banquets, giving gifts, and defeating their nephews regularly in table games. She is now experiencing the greatest of family reunions in her Father's House. Special thanks to the staff at Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Johnson City and for the care that she received from the Alzheimer's & Dementia Unit. The memorial service for Joyce will be held at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Main Street in Endicott on Friday, February 6 at Noon with Rev. Robert McGehee and Rev. Joshua Rathmell of West Endicott Baptist Church officiating. The family will begin receiving friends of Joyce at 10:00 AM until time of service. Burial will be at Vestal Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to West Endicott Baptist Church, 515 West Wendell St., Endicott, NY 13760.
