Obituary of Francis R. Rausch
Vestal: Francis R. Rausch, 91, peacefully went to be with lord Wednesday, February 25, 2015. He was predeceased by his wife Betty and infant daughter Linda May Rausch. He is survived by his four children; Corinne Potter, of Olean, NY, Norma (Bob) Williams, Shrewsbury, MA, Bill (Rosemary) Rausch, Middle Port, NY and Mary Rausch of Tonawanda, NY; grand-children; Crystal Potter, Gabe (Hillary) Potter, Melissa & Chris Williams, Coleen, Daniel, Hannah and Rachael Rausch, one great-granddaughter Olivia Potter, brothers and sisters, Alvin, Joan, Donald, Bernice, Lewis, William, Jr., Phyllis, Roger and David; son-in-law, Thomas M. Potter, several nieces and nephews. He graduated with honors from the University of Minnesota. He was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church where he ushered and was part of the Solicitation Pledges for the former Our Lady of Sorrows School and supported the new church project. He was a retired employee of IBM Glendale with 33 years of service and was a member of its Quarter Century Club. He received an Outstanding Invention Award from IBM. He was a Veteran of the US Navy and served on the USS Meredith where he was a Radioman and was on the ship when it sank during the invasion of Normandy. Francis and Betty enjoyed traveling in their RV and visiting their friends. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to do home maintenance projects. He was active at Hill Top Retirement Center where he met new friends. Funeral Services will be held Monday at 9:30am from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC., 765 Main St, Vestal and 10am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main St, Vestal where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated, Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 2-4pm. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 13 Beech Street, Johnson City, NY 13790.
