Obituary of James W. Malloy
James W. Malloy, 90, of Endicott, NY, passed away on February 15, 2015, following a brief illness at Ideal Senior Living Center. He was born on October 3, 1924 on Long Island, and lived his childhood in Roslyn, NY. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Mary (King) Malloy; his loving wife, Anne (Greenfell) Malloy; his brothers, Edward and John; and also two children, Joseph Malloy and devoted daughter, Kathleen Chapman. He is survived by a brother, Gerard (Alice) Malloy; and sister-in-law, Gloria Malloy, both of Long Island, NY. He is also survived by his loving children, Mary (Gary) Cole, Endicott, NY; Gary Chapman, Newark Valley, NY; Susan (Rich) Erdle, Silver Creek, NY; Michael Malloy, Endicott, NY; Theresa Malloy, Endicott, NY; Elziabeth (John) Brislen, Cambridge, OH; James (Connie) Malloy, Endicott, NY; Colonel Gerard (Mary) Malloy, Arcadia, OK; Peter (Tiffany) Malloy, Wyoming, NY; and Melanie (Mike) Sheets, Seattle, WA; also 21 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. James is survived by his extended family, in-laws Barbara Laper, James (Pat) Grenfell, Mike (Ella) Grenfell, John Grenfell, and Claire (Austin) O'Regan, and many nieces and nephews. Jim served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943-46, 2nd Armored Division as a tank crewman, and fought during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a graduate of Delhi State College, 1948, with a degree in Animal Husbandry, and worked for the Parliman Farm in Lagrangeville, NY. He married Anne Grenfell on June 21, 1952, in Westbury, NY. Jim and Anne then moved to Endicott, NY, and he worked in the ice cream business with his good friend, Jack Huff, and also worked for Sealtest Ice Cream for many years. Jim was a member of Teamster Union 693. Jim later worked for Endicott Trust as a courier and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Jim and Anne were married for 59 years, and loved raising their family in Endicott, NY. He loved his country, family, and growing flowers and vegetables. He was a faithful member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, and also enjoyed fellowship at Central Methodist Church in Endicott. We are grateful for his good friend, Alan Thompson, and all the wonderful nurses and staff at Ideal Senior Living Center, Tulip Court, who took such good care of him in his final years. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10AM at St. Ambrose Church, 203 Washington Ave., Endicott. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Endicott at the convenience of the family, where full Military Honors will be accorded. The family will receive friends at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home LLC, 300 East Main St., Endicott Friday from 4-7PM.
