Obituary of Milton E. Howland
Milton E. (BUD) Howland, Jr., 67, Vestal, N.Y., passed away May 5, 2015 following an extended illness. Bud was predeceased by parents, Milton E. and Margaret E. Howland; brother, David; sisters, Patricia A. Diehl and Dawn Shonnard; several aunts and uncles. He is survived by his pride and joy, daughter Katie, her husband, Lawrence Hillis, III, and their children, Dylan and Emily, all of Vestal; special nephew and nieces, Brian Diehl, Nikki Diehl Arroyo, Heather Diehl Rafferty, and their families; close friend and brother-in-law, Dave Diehl (Sue); many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews. Also Katie's mother, Darlene (Moyle) Howland and her family. Bud graduated from Vestal High School in 1967, where he was a member of the wrestling team. He retired from NYSEG after 33 years of service. He enjoyed working part-time at Vestal Marine & Cycle with the Rinaldi family. His hobbies included bluegrass music, running, hiking, mountain biking and, most of all, sailing. Memorial service will be held Monday, May 11, 5 p.m. from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC, 765 Main St., Vestal, with Pastor Mike Willis of Vestal United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 4 p.m. until time of service. Katie would like to extend her gratitude to the staff at Susquehanna Nursing & Rehab Center, Johnson City, N.Y., for their compassionate care of her father.
