Obituary of Marion L. Crawford

Marion L. Crawford, 93, long-time resident of Vestal, NY died June 20, 2015 after a short stay at Willow Point Nursing Home. She previously resided at The Hearth at Castle Gardens. Marion was born in Endicott, NY, daughter of Lyman and Evelyn Williams. She was predeceased by her husband of 73 years, William L. Crawford; a daughter, Nancy L. Lord; granddaughter, Kelly Crawford and infant great-granddaughter, Paige Lewis. Marion is survived by her children, Jo-Ann (Robert) VanDeventer, Newark Valley, NY, Dean (Laura) Crawford, Stuart, FL and Bonnie (Craig) Evans, Fort Mill, SC. She is also survived by her granddchildren, John Lord, Acworth, GA, Michael Lord, Rochester, NY, Kyle (Kristin) Crawford, Palm Harbor, FL, Deron VanDeventer, Endwell, NY, Molly (Wesley) Blanchard, Fort Mill, SC, Kristen (James) Rice, Buffalo, NY, Megan (Steve) Friend, Charlotte, NC; Kevin (Susan) VanDeventer, Johnson City, NY and Allison Crawford, Austin, TX. Also surviving are twelve great-grandchildren and one sister, Mildred Welch, Jacksonville, FL. Marion was a devoted wife and mother and her joy in life was her family. She loved the many gatherings at her home where she enjoyed cooking and serving meals. Everyone was always welcome at her home. She always enjoyed daily rides in the country with her husband when he was living. Marion was a volunteer for many years with Meals on Wheels of Broome County. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, June 25 at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main St., Vestal NY, followed by interment at Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Meals on Wheels of Broome County.
