Obituary of Ernest Eugene Allis

Ernest Eugene (Gene) Allis, Sr. 83, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015 after living many years with Parkinson's disease. He was born to the late Leslie and Janet (Schoonover) Allis on July 20, 1932, in Allis Hallow, PA. He is survived by his wife of nearly 64 years, Beverly (Pierce), his four children Ernest, Jr. (wife Debra) of North Carolina, Cheryl (Nix) (husband Barry) of Canada, Brian (wife Donna) of Vestal and Stephen (wife Tammy) of Delaware. Also surviving are his eight grandchildren Michael, Tiffany, Melanie (Ball), Nathan (Battams), Jessica, Hollie (Ames), Katey (Fisher) and Greg, as well as five great grandchildren Raechel and Caitlin Ball, Jackson and Lily Ames and Brooks Fisher. Gene is also survived by brothers William (wife Ann) of Florida and Ronald (wife Cathy) of Vestal. He was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Allis. Gene retired from IBM, Endicott, in 1989, after 34 years and enjoyed wintering in Florida and camping at Lake Bonin PA for the next 20 years. Most recently he resided at The Hearth at Castle Gardens Retirement Home and Willow Point Nursing Home, Vestal. Gene was an avid gardener and long-time volunteer fire fighter in Vestal. He loved fishing, country music and playing the banjo. Services will be held at the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main St., Vestal, NY on Saturday, July 25th at 11:00 am.
