Obituary of Sally S. Swan
Sally Sue Swan, 82, of Vestal NY, passed away Saturday, October 24, 2015. She was a loving and caring wife and mother. She was predeceased by her parents, Clifford and Francis Snyder; her husband of fifty years, Charles Alfred Swan and several siblings. She is survived by her children, Sharon Lynn Finelli and Daniel Charles Swan; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Wilson; grandchildren, Gina Lynn Finelli and Jeffrey Dana Swan, and her brother Ebon Bonear. She will be greatly missed by many dear nieces and nephews. Sally was employed her entire career in the cable television industry and retired from Time Warner Cable Inc. in 1991. She was a dedicated, lifetime member of the Vestal Center United Methodist Church where she worked tirelessly with the Women's Society to comfort many families in their times of need. She greatly enjoyed volunteer work and was active for many years in the Endicott Women's Society and served the organization in a variety of capacities. She was a long-time supporter of American Legion Post 89 Auxiliary, where she served as the Post Auxiliary Chaplain, assisted with chicken and biscuit fundraisers, and helped to organize the annual children's Christmas party. She was an active member of the Antique Society of Broome County. She treasured her monthly outings with her "girls lunch group" joining five dear friends dating from their kindergarten days. She received great comfort and joy from the time she spent with her special and dear friend Millie Swan. At Sally's request there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A graveside memorial will be held on Monday, November 23, 2015 at 11:00 am, at the Vestal Hills Memorial Park Tower of Memories Chapel. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in memory of Sally may be made to the Children's Home of Wyoming Conference, 1182 Chenango St, Binghamton, NY 13901 or the Vestal Center United Methodist Church, 478 West Hill Road, Vestal, NY 13850.
