Obituary of Philip L. Delaney

Philip L. Delaney, 62 years, died October 27, 2015, of a recent illness. Mr. Delaney was a longtime resident of the Taft Avenue Group Residence in Endwell, NY, a satellite of the Broome Developmental Center based in Binghamton, NY, and a facility of the NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities. For many years, Mr. Delaney attended the day program at the Chester B. Lord School for Handicapped Children, Riverside Drive, Binghamton, NY. Mr. Delaney was well known among the Broome Developmental community for his great interest in radio and television broadcasting, often serving as announcer for various programs offered in the school and at home. He also enjoyed wide-ranging interests in meteorology, astronomy, and the study of the universe. He was a devout Roman Catholic, having been a member of St. Ambrose R. C. Church, Endicott, NY, in his early life; later, he was affiliated with Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, West Endicott. Mr. Delaney was pre-deceased by his parents, Raymond W. and Janet T. Delaney, who were strong advocates for the developmentally disabled, and by his brother, John T. Delaney, formerly of Vestal. He is survived by his sister Mary Delaney Krugman of Montclair, NJ; his nephews Daniel D. Krugman and wife Elizabeth Gibbons, Brooklyn, NY; Casey W. Krugman and wife Kennon Hulett, also of Brooklyn; Sean Dennis Delaney and wife Anne McGrath of Charlotteville, VA; and his niece, Erin Delaney Guidici and husband Matthew of Greer, SC. Visitation will be held at the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, 300 E. Main Street, Endicott, NY, on Thursday, October 29, 2015, from 4 - 7 pm. Funeral services will be held at St. Ambrose Church, 203 Washington Ave, Endicott, on Friday October 30, at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Delaney's memory may be honored by a donation to the Parents Group of Broome Developmental Services Office, c/o the Broome DDSO, 249 Glenwood Road, Binghamton, New York 13905 (607) 770-0255.
