Obituary of Philip Boyd Kennicutt

P. Boyd Kennicutt, 85, of Vestal, passed away on Friday, January 8, 2016 at the Vestal Park Rehab and Nursing Center. He was predeceased by his parents, Philip and Gladys Kennicutt; his loving wife, Joan C. Kennicutt; son, Jon C. Kennicutt; brother and sister-in-law, Charles E. and Margie Kennicutt; brother-in-law, William C. Evans; and nephew, Dale A. Evans. Boyd is survived by his daughter, Lori B. Kennicutt (G. Michelle Mead); daughter-in-law, Charlene R. Kennicutt; nephews, Jay Evans, Kyle Evans and Jeff Kennicutt; niece, Ellen Kennicutt; and also special friend, Ryan Morey. Boyd graduated from Binghamton Central High School, and joined the Air Force, stationed at Sampson AFB as a Drill Sergeant in the 3656th Squadron. He was a member of the Masons and the Elks. He was active in the local Democratic Committee and a member of the local chapter of Veterans for Peace. Boyd had retired from the Binghamton Press after 27 years of service, and then was a Building Inspector for the Town of Union until retiring in 1996. Boyd had been an avid golfer and skier, and a member of the Greek Peak Ski Patrol for 17 years and earned National Ski Patrol #5934. He also loved to sail and was intensely interested in aviation. A Remembrance of Boyd's Life will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2016 from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Vestal Elks Lodge, 2071 Vestal Parkway West, Vestal. Burial will take place on Boyd's Birthday, March 30, 2016, in Vestal Hills Memorial Park, Vestal. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Boyd's name to the Veterans for Peace, 1404 N.
