Obituary of Anna M. Gorski
Anna (Ann) M. Gorski, a former child education and development advocate, died peacefully on Saturday, January 23, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with heart disease. Her family was at her side at the time of her death. She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Anna Evan, and three brothers; Michael Evan, John Evan, and Joseph Evan. She is survived by James, her husband of 55 years, a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Robert LoBue of Larchmont, NY, a daughter, Mary Gorski of Endicott, NY, a sister, Mary Evan of Wilkes-Barre, PA, a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Karen Evan of Nanticoke, PA, a granddaughter, Katherine LoBue of Larchmont, NY, and several nieces and nephews. She received a Bachelor's degree from Misericordia University, Dallas, PA. She was a teacher in the Plymouth Pennsylvania School District, the River Edge New Jersey School District, and was a substitute teacher for the Union-Endicott School District. She was a strong advocate for the education and development of children. She held leadership roles in the Parent Teachers Association (PTA). She served as a Trustee at SUNY Cortland. She was a co-founder of the Learning Disabilities Association of the Southern Tier (LDAST) and, for many years, served as its Executive Director. She was especially proud of the Peer Connections program, which worked to develop social and living habits among learning disabled adolescents. In another track, she was a long-term member of the Broome County Democratic Committee and served several terms on the New York Democratic Executive Committee as a representative of the Sixth Judicial District. She loved traveling, shopping, and family gatherings. For many years, she was a volunteer at the BC Open. At Ann's request, there will be no public viewing. Funeral service will be private and arranged by Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC, Endicott, NY.
