Obituary of Anthony D. Potenzino

Anthony "Tony" D. Potenzino, 85 passed away on Tuesday March 1, 2016 after a short illness in his home. He was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Santina Potenzino; his younger brother, Arthur Potenziano; his infant sister, Silvia Potenzino and his third son, Robert P. Potenzino. He is survived by brothers, Tom Potenzino and Jim Potenziano (Deb); his wife of 65 years, Mae Potenzino; sons, Tony Potenzino Jr., Tom Potenzino and Larry Potenzino (Tami); grandsons, Brian Potenziano (Beth), Robbie Potenzino and Trevor Potenzino, and great-grandchildren Kristi, Alex, and James. Tony graduated from Binghamton North High School in 1948 and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1948-1952 in Korea. After his service, Tony moved to Vestal with his wife Mae, where Tony worked for IBM for 32 years and retired in 1989. He was in the IBM Quarter Century Club. Tony was an avid golfer, bowler, and softball player. Tony was inducted into the Binghamton Bowling Association's Hall of Fame in 1990 and played in the softball senior games. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 1645 and a life long member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Vestal. Tony was a loving family man that will be greatly missed. A Funeral Mass will Celebrated Saturday at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church 801 Main St., Vestal. Entombment will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home LLC, 765 Main St, Vestal, Friday from 4-7PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Broome County Veterans Memorial Association, P.O. 694, Johnson City, NY 13790.
