Obituary of Robert E Strope

Robert Strope, 88 of Vestal, went home to be with his savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 9, 2016. Bob is predeceased by his loving, devoted wife Allie; his parents, Jobe and Gertrude Strope; sisters,Agnes and Ed Tassey, Bettie Monell, Louise and Dick Peterson; and brother-in-law, George VanGorden and grandson, Kyle Baker. Bob is survived by his children, Rhonda and Ken Baker, Vestal, Renee and Keith Williams, Apalachin, Marla Hicks, Virginia, Del and Matt Parsons, Vestal; grandchildren, Jesse Williams, Kord and Sunnie Williams, Thomas Shaheen, Cortney Baker, Nathan, Caleb, Abby, and Sadie Parsons; great-grandchildren, Averie and Ainsley Williams; and many nieces and nephews. Siblings, Marion VanGorden, Dick and Mabel Strope, Doug and Mabel Strope, Jack and Mary Strope, Joyce and Bill Kwiatkowski. Bob was a lifelong member of South Apalachin Baptist Church, a place he held dear to his heart. Bob graduated from Owego Free Academy and went on to SUNY Delhi to learn a trade in Masonry. A craft he used to established a successful business which he ran for many years. Bob was a kind, thoughtful, generous, and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose grandchildren brought him great joy and were the love of his life. Bob was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed. Family will receive friends at the South Apalachin Baptist Church, 4116 Pennsylvania Ave, Apalachin, NY 13732, on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. The Rev. Daniel Crane, pastor of his church will officiate a service immediately following the viewing at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the SABC Mission Fund c/o South Apalachin Baptist Church , the Handicapped Children's Association Building Blocks Pre-School, 18 Broad St, Johnson City, NY 13790 (Please include a memo with your contribution indicating it is to be used for the pre-school's needs), or a charity of one's choice .
