Obituary of John H. Pendergast

John (Jack) Pendergast, 79, of Apalachin, died Tuesday June 7, 2016 at Lourdes Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents Howard and Estelle Pendergast, and a sister Joan Sykes. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Patricia (Valabek). His children Marcy and Ken Day, Kathy and Ian Ferrell, and Jody Strong all of California. Michael of NY, and Shawn of Florida. 13 Grandchildren, and 2 Great grandchildren. Sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Robert Small of Florida, Brother James Brian Pendergast of Oregon, and sister and brother-in-law Mary and Fred Hansen of Nevada. Special friends Chaz and Dave. He was a graduate of Owego Free Academy, and a local decent mechanic. His favorite occupation was being a skipper on a state fishing boat in Alaska. John enjoyed fishing on his own in many parts of Alaska, and telling many stories about his time in Alaska. "To the world you may be one person, but to me you were the world." A memorial service will be held Saturday at 3PM from the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home LLC, 6519 St Rt 434, Apalachin. Deacon Joseph Federowicz will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1PM until time of service at 3. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Jack's memory to the Apalachin Volunteer Emergency Squad, PO Box 572, Apalachin, 13732.
