Obituary of Robert I. Payne

Payne, Robert I.Robert I. Payne, 92, of Apalachin went to be with his savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Willow Point Nursing Home. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Betty; brothers, Roy Payne, Sterling Payne and Jack Payne; son-in-law, Joseph Gould. Bob is survived by his children, Sharon Gould, Bonnie (Bruce) Lillie, Gary (Susan) Payne and Ken (Carol) Payne; 15 grand-children; 27 great grand-children; brothers, Harland Payne and Stanley Payne and sister, Donna Hunt. Bob was Honorably Discharged from the U. S. Army 363rd Air Service Group and was a member of the South Apalachin Baptist Church. He drove stock cars at 5-Mile Point, Glenn Aubrey and Penn Can racetracks and won the Spring Championship at 5-Mile Point in 1957. Bob and Betty resided at the Sun and Fun Mobile Home Park in Fort Myers, Florida for 17 years and because of declining health, they moved back to Apalachin. Our family would like to thank the Willow Point Nursing Home family for all their kind, compassionate and loving care they gave to our father. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the South Apalachin Baptist Church, 4116 Pennsylvania Ave., Apalachin. The Reverend Daniel Crane and The Reverend James Walter will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday, June 20, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC, 6519 Rt. 434, Apalachin.
