Obituary of Katherine Stadel

Katherine (Kay) Schad Stadel of Syracuse and formerly of Vestal Katherine (Kay) Schad Stadel, 91, passed away unexpectedly at the University Hospital in Syracuse on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, after a short illness. Born in Roscoe, NY on October 9, 1917, she graduated from Roscoe High School. Kay was a current resident of Sedwick Heights in Syracuse. Her prior residence was in Vestal, NY, where she raised her children and lived for over 50 years. She also resided in Binghamton, NY for 15 years and Roscoe, NY for over 20 years. Kay enjoyed caring for her family, visiting with her grandchildren, knitting, crocheting, sewing, crossword puzzles, reading, cooking, board games, cards and shopping. Her husband, Richard A Stadel; parents, William A. Schad and Mabel Vernooy Schad; and a brother, William A. Schad Jr. preceded her. She is survived by a son, David W. Stadel, Clifton Park, NY; and a daughter, Sharon Stadel Kitchie (David), Fulton, NY. Her grandchildren include Brenda Stadel Gibbs (Michael), Ballston Lake NY, John Richard Stadel (Tracy), Schuylerville, NY, Debra Stadel Wilper (Christopher), W. Henrietta, NY, Rebecca Marie Stadel, Ashford, CT, Andrew Richard Stadel (Holly), Clifton Park, NY, Mathew Anthony Kitchie (Megan), Bethleham, PA and Daniel Paul Kitchie, Harrisonburg, VA. Her great-grandchildren include Megan Ann Stadel, Sarah Rose Gibbs, Alexander Richard Gibbs and Kelly Ann Stadel. She has five nieces and three nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2009, at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main St., Vestal NY. Burial will be private at the Vestal Hills Memorial Park. The Rev. Naomi Sorrwar-Randall of the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church will officiate. The family will receive family and friends on Monday from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
