Obituary of Alberta M. Ferrari
Alberta Mae Ferrari, née Bentzig, passed away the morning of September 9 at the age of 80. Alberta was born in Brooklyn to Mae and Joseph Bentzig. She earned her degree in psychology from Brooklyn College at night while working. At 18 years old she met Mario Ferrari, and eight years later they married and moved to the Binghamton area, soon settling in Apalachin. There Alberta dedicated herself to making a home and raising their three sons, Stephen, Paul, and Michael, whom she always supported, encouraging them in school, life, and cooking. As a girl she was interested in Europe, and when the family had the opportunity to spend several years in England, she took on the challenge of setting up a household in a new country. Returning to Apalachin, she continued the family and household there. She enjoyed needlepoint, reading, and puzzles. She spent her last weeks in the Apalachin home she loved and shared with her husband Mario for fifty years.She is survived by her husband Mario, sons Stephen, Paul, and Michael, daughters-in-law Heike and Jenelle, grandchildren Max, Jordana, and Dominick, and her younger brother George, his wife Carmen, and their son Scott.A Funeral Mass will be offered on Wednesday at St. Patrick's Church, 300 Main St. Owego, at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Owego. The family will receive friends at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC, 300 E. Main St. Endicott, on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m.
