Obituary of Frederick George Barnes

Frederick G. Barnes, 78, of Conklin passed away Saturday morning, April 8, 2017. He was predeceased by his loving wife Sandra L. Barnes; parents, Frederick Barnes and Ruth Schabel and sister Barbara Exter. He is survived by his brother Jim (Mary) Barnes, Hornell; 5 sons, Frederick Jr. (Susan) Barnes, Susquehanna, Mark Barnes, Susquehanna, Jeffrey (Diana) Barnes, Hurst, TX, Paul (Terry) Barnes, Susquehanna, Kenneth (Tania) Barnes, Binghamton; step-daughters Christine McCarthy, Brenda Rubio and Rochelle Davern; 15 grandchildren, Michael (Kourtney), Lisa, Matthew, Andrew, Stephanie, Kelly, Garrett, Erik, Erica, Gabriele, Danielle, Nicole, Alyssa, Sydney and Roman; 6 great-grandchildren Nicholas, Gracyn, Brooklyn, Lilly, Aaydan, and Carter, and long time close friend Carolyn Roberts. Fred was always a hard worker and an excellent provider. In his 20's, Fred worked as a switchman for the Erie-Lackawanna R. R. Co. At the same time, he began his lifelong career as a tractor trailer driver. He later owned and operated Barnes Trucking, Inc. for over 30 years. Fred enjoyed spending time with his family and going to church on Sundays. He had a unique sense of humor and loved teasing his grandchildren. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him. He was a member of Saints John & Andrew Church, Binghamton. A private burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City.
