Obituary of Stephen Ambrose

Here Stephen Ambrose, 86, of Brackney, Pa passed away, peacefully in his sleep, in his favorite chair, on May 3rd, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. A beloved father and grandfather, Stephen was an amazing man with a enormous heart and one to never complain. Stephen was born December 27th, 1930 in Drifton, Pa to his father John Ambrose and mother Mary Supon. He is pre-deceased by his brother Jack Ambrose and sister Mary Kockmansky. He is survived by his sister Mary Zitkus. Stephen was a veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean conflict as well as an honorable police officer and detective for 29 years in Middle Town Township in Pennsylvania. Stephen was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Vestal Elks Lodge 2508. Stephen met the love of this life Mary Ann Ambrose in 1950 who was his 'Mary Lou'. He asked for her hand shortly after the first date and spent 62 beautiful years with his soulmate. After a well deserved retirement, Stephen and Mary Ann relocated to the Little Meadows, area where he spent almost 30 years in their beautiful house on the hill. Stephen was a loving, gentle soul who enjoyed the little things in life such as hunting, fishing, NASCAR, Texas hold-em, mowing the lawn, feeding the fish in the pond. Family was the most important thing to Stephen and his love for all he encountered was unmatched. Stephen was a man of great faith and devoted much of his time and energy to his book of prayers, in which he did every morning. He is survived by his 3 children Debbie Ambrose (Edward), Stephen Ambrose Jr (Doreen), and Donna Fizzano (Joseph) and 6 grandchildren Nichole Tyler, Katlynn Tyler, John Ambrose, Vince Fizzano, Michael Fizzano and Gina Fizzano. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends. Despite his condition, Stephen can be remembered for that loving smile, infinite strength and being a fighter to the end. A memorial mass will be held this Friday, May 12th at 11:00am at St. Brigid Parish Friendsville, PA. A viewing will be held the hour before at 10:00am in which the family will receive friends and family who wish to say their final goodbyes. The burial will be take place following the mass at the St. Thomas Apostle Cemetery, Little Meadows.
