Obituary of Eugene Reed
Eugene R. Reed of Johnson City Eugene R. Reed, 79, of Johnson City, died Tuesday morning, June 9, 2009, at his home. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Mable; his brothers, George, David, Robert, and James; and his two sisters, Ethel and Charlotte. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virginia (Ginger) Reed; three sons, Stephen and his wife, Donna Reed, and their children, Danielle, Narcissa, Jason, Lindsey, Damon, and Paul; Thomas and Tabatha Reed, and their children, Tommy and Timmy; Jeffrey Reed; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Stephen Shubiak and their children, David and Patty; seven great-grandchildren, David, Derrick, Travis, Bobby, Damon, Nataya, and papa's special buddy, Joshua; two sisters, Wilma and Betty; many special friends and family, including Charlene and John Quirello and family. He was a retired employee of the Raymond Corporation in Greene, a member of the Endwell Christian Union Church, and a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army. He was an avid racing fan and enjoyed the speedway, and he shot shuffle board at the Binghamton Moose Lodge. The family would like to thank Lourdes Hospice, Broome Oncology, Dr. Ramanujan and his staff, especially Katie, for their loving care of Eugene. A Memorial Service will be held Friday at 5 p.m. from the Endwell Christian Union Church, corner of Hooper Road and Smith Drive, Endwell. The Rev. Arthur Penird, Pastor of his church, will officiate. Burial will be in Vestal Hills Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 3 p.m. until service time at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the memorial fund of the church. Arrangements are by the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 300 E. Main St., Endicott.
