Obituary of Bruce Earle Watson
Bruce E. Watson, 88, of Vestal, NY was surrounded by family when he went to be with the Lord on September 13, 2017. Bruce was born in Binghamton, NY on January 13, 1929 to Earl and Carol Watson. He is pre-deceased by his parents, Earl and Carol along with his wife Rosemary. Bruce is survived by his long-time companion and friend, Lucille Montgomery. Bruce married Rosemary (Hanifin) Watson and together they raised five children. Bruce was a wonderful father to Susan (Mark) Serino, Michael (Pat) Watson, Terry (Liisa) Watson, Christopher (Kim) Watson and Jeffrey (Kim) Watson. He was a proud grandfather to Amy (Adam) Reinhold, Jenni (Troy) Martzall, Rick (Heather) Watson, Sarah Watson, Troy Watson, Leena (Michael) McLane, Rheannon Serino (Michael), Shaunna (Greg) Leider, Courtney (Chad) Macuszonok, Connor Watson, Tyler Watson and Caden Watson. Bruce was also a great-grandfather to Roman Watson Reilly, Molly and Brogan Watson, Cole and Cate Macuszonok. Bruce studied Engineering in the first class of the New York State Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences which later became Broome Community College. Bruce proudly served his country in the Korean conflict. After returning from Korea, Bruce joined IBM as an apprentice in the Model Shop program. In his 30-year career at IBM, Bruce advanced within the company as an Engineering Manager and ultimately retired as an Advisory Engineer. Bruce had many interests and talents. He loved jazz music and played both the saxophone and piano. Bruce also served as Quartermaster at the VFW. He was a big fan of the New York Yankees and enjoyed spending time at his cottage at White Birch Lake and winters in Florida. He also enjoyed painting, wood working and tending to his gold fish pond. Bruce will be remembered for his intelligence, his kind manner and devotion to his family. We will always carry your memory in our hearts. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Vestal Hills Memorial Park, Vestal. The family will receive friends at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LLC, 765 Main St., Vestal, on Sunday, September 17, 2017 from 1-3 p.m.
