Obituary of John W. Stout
John Walter Stout and Catherine Jane (Ryan) Stout of Endicott, went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 2, 2017. John was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Arvilla (Stevens) Stout; Catherine's parents, Francis and Pauline (Griffin) Ryan; brother-in-law, Alfred Vavra; and nephews, John Vavra and John Ryan. They are survived by their children, Michael and Mary Jo Stout, their beloved grandchildren, Faith and Matthew Stout; John's siblings, Carol (Stout) Vavra, Ken and Kathy Stout, all of Endicott; Catherine's siblings, Thomas and Michelle Ryan, Sue (Ryan) and Ron Smith, and Joseph Ryan of all Friendsville, PA; aunts, Mary Anne Stout of Wilbraham, MA, and Betty Ryan of Binghamton, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and a great nephew and cousins. John was born in Endicott, NY on July 22, 1938. He graduated from Union Endicott High School Class of 1957 and served in the U. S. Army. He was an Endicott Fireman, retiring after 25 years and was employed part time at Jim Roma's Bakery for 35 years. Catherine was born in Carbondale, PA on July 27, 1940. She graduated from Montrose High School Class of 1958 and worked at the Bank of New York and Key Bank for 30 years. John and Catherine were members of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and recently celebrated 50 years of marriage on May 20, 2017. Catherine passed away ten hours after the death of her loving husband. We will take comfort in knowing that they enter in to eternal life together. Both were surrounded by their family at their passing and will be greatly missed by all. They were members of the Northside Senior Center, American Legion Post 1700, and the Endicott Elks. John loved the New York Giants, and the New York Yankees and his daily lunches with his buddies at Jim Roma's Bakery. Catherine was devoted to taking care of her family, crocheting, and loved her sweets. They loved long car rides, especially if it included a stop at a casino. They enjoyed time with family and friends. They were devoted to attending their grandchildren's sporting events and were very proud of their grandchildren and their achievements. The family would like to give a special thank you to the Jim Roma's Bakery family for their love and generosity. A Memorial Mass to celebrate both of their life's will be offered Monday at 12:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Endicott. Burial will be in Riverhurst Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the church Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the service time at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in their memory to the American Heart Association, P.
