Stephen O'Brien

Obituary of Stephen W. O'Brien

Stephen W. O'Brien, 45, of Endicott, passed away unexpectedly, on Friday October 13, 2017. Stephen was born April 24, 1972, in Endicott, New York. After living out West and down South he came home and started a family. He was a Union Endicott and BCC graduate. Stephen was an avid cyclist, both on the mountain and road, and was always at home on two wheels. His passion and knowledge for cycling was infectious, encouraging and mentoring many friends over the years. After working for IBM for several years, he switched occupations to work with his second passion of cars and trucks working in various capacities in Sales, Service Manager and Auction Coordination for a local Dealership, covering Chevy and Toyota vehicles. Stephen had an outstanding ability at an early age to take things apart and put them back together. Over the years his skill advanced to being able to complete many complex projects, making many things look better and run better. He had an outstanding engineering skill and capability. What was amazing was that he self-taught himself many of the skills he had to rebuild motors, lift car frames and welding. There was really nothing Stephen could not do from a mechanical perspective. He loved the outdoors going on long bike rides, kayaking with his family, hiking with the dogs and going fishing with his two sons. Known for his wry sense of humor and selflessness for his friends and family, he will be forever missed by all that met and knew him. He is survived by loving wife Jessica, three children; Emily, Tristan and Lukas, his mother and father, Cynthia and Patrick; three brothers, Kevin and Wife Trish (Daughter and Son; Shannon and Brennen), Terry and Wife Anne (Daughter and son; Amanda and Thomas), Brother Thomas (Dan) and Sister Karen Marie, Husband Dale. Also survived by his Uncle Bill and Aunt Shirlenn and Cousins Chris, Randy and Colleen and each of their family members. And also survived by Uncle Steve, Aunt Marie and family members. Private services will be held for family at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, LCC in Endicott. Thank you to Friends and Family for your support and prays. Stephen is and will always be a great loss to our family, forever loved and missed.
