Endicott - Myrtle D. Simonin 95 went home to be with Jesus and her husband Joe on Wednesday, January 3rd. She was a woman of strong faith and joy. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Joe, parents Hazel and Alfred Down, two brothers Austin and Al Down and her sister Ethel Pearson. She was born in Conifer, New York on April 5, 1922. She is survived by her children Howard (Martha) Simonin, Holland Patent, N.Y., daughters JoAnn Smith, Littleton, Colorado, Linda (Bill) Kissel, Sauquoit, N.Y. and Rev.Mary Jean Simonin, Nichols, N.Y.; ten grandchildren Paul (Abby) Simonin, Mark Simonin, Audra, Aaron (Carrie) Smith, Jenna (Armando) Cobo, Colleen (Chris) Martin, Sheila (Steve) Covell, Noelle, Nancy, Martha Kissel and ten great grandchildren, Faith, Abigail, Luke, Jacob, Charity and Liberty Martin, Elliana, Kathleen and Shannon Covell and Rafael Cobo (born Nov. 19, 2017). Myrtle loved and cherished her close knit family. She brought joy to all our lives. She began her career as a Christian Educator in various churches. After nurturing her children as they grew up, she went back to school and became an elementary school librarian where she taught in the Union Endicott and Vestal School Districts. Mom loved Jesus and expressed her faith by her caring love for each person she met. She was full of wisdom and joy and boldly shared her faith. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church for more than fifty years. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 9 from 11:30 am-1pm at the Nichols United Methodist Church. A celebration of life will follow at 1:00pm in the sanctuary with Pastors Bill Prentice and Tom Hester officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Compassion International or United Methodist Committee on Relief. We would like to thank all the wonderful caregivers who she treasured. Arrangements are by Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home, Inc., 300 East Main St, Endicott.
