Rose Chechatka

Obituary of Rose Chechatka

Endicott - Rose Chechatka, 78, Endicott, NY On the morning of January 5, 2018 our beloved Rose was gently lifted from the arms of her loving husband, Julian, and cradled into the embrace of our Savior Jesus Christ to begin the journey to her eternal home. After nearly 16 years of a valiant battle against cancer, she bravely succumbed and so revealed that "Rose's Rules" were born of God's utmost desire for mercy. Perpetually active, Rose embraced life's abundance by mastering new competitive challenges with uncanny gusto. In whatever activity that captured her fancy (bowling, tennis, golf, pickleball) she honed her skill with such devotion it sometimes brought her fame for her extraordinary achievement. Yet her greatest joy was found in playful banter with her competitors that often made her the butt of the joke. The laughs she inspired surely have God's angels singing her praise, as do all who she leaves behind, family and friends alike, extending from the Southern Tier to Florida's Treasure Coast. Rose is the daughter of the late Alfredo and Assunta Marcello, as well as the sister of the late Nicholas Marcello. A dedicated wife for 59 fun filled years, a wonderful mother to three vibrant boys, Tom (Tampa, FL), Chris, with his beautiful wife, Karin, (West Corners), and Al, with his gem Katherine (Jupiter, FL), these carry the torch of her fun-loving spirit forward to shine on her seven wonderful grandchildren, Megan, Hayley, Sarah and Michael [Chechatka], as well as Megan and Emileigh [Bonzek] and Erin Lapierre. Joining these, too, are several other admirable Chechatka mothers who count Rose a true family blessing. Rose's extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins join her immediate family in mourning her passing. Also, her dear friend Lois Engel who was at her side each day in the hospital. The entire family expresses its most sincere thanks to Rose's extraordinary oncologist, Dr. Joseph Readling for his dedicated and personal care provided over the course of Rose's dreaded affliction. His compassion and concern deserve the highest acclaim. Also, a special thanks to Sarah, Rose's nurse in Wilson ICU, whose sensitive attention during her final days was a great comfort to Rose's husband who remained at her bedside. The family will receive friends at the Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home; 300 E Main St; Endicott, NY from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday January 9, 2018. A Memorial Mass honoring Rose's life will be held on Wednesday January 10, 2018 at 1:30 PM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church; 701 W Main St. Endicott. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to "Food For The Poor"; 6401 Lyons Road; P. O. Box 979005; Coconut Creek, FL 33097-9005 in Rose's memory. That our mourning of her passing be properly put into perspective, we recall Rose's creative flair and her discovering a burgeoning market for bean-filled frogs, even pre-dating the creation of "Beanie Babies." As they say, money isn't everything. Life and love are. So, farewell lovely wife, kind mother, thoughtful grandmother, and sovereign joy! May those many mementos made by your own hands forever remind us how God's love is revealed through the lives He created, such as yours and all who preceded you to heaven.
