Obituary of Ann Marie Rose
Ann Marie Rose, 94, of Vestal, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 1, 2018. Born February 15, 1924 to Laurence and Mary DuBois, Ann Marie is predeceased by her husband Victor L. Rose and sister Marion L. Rose. She is survived by sister-in-law Louise Zur and by her children Victor Jr. and Patricia, Maryann Thompson, Jean Rose-Klein and Michael Klein, and Eloise and David Hooper. She is also survived by 10 grand, 24 great- grand, and 10 great, great-grandchildren and caring nieces and nephews, especially those of the Stark, Matta, Diller, Sterling, and Zur families, all of whom regarded her as the loving matriarch of the huge family. A life-long resident of Broome County and a resident of Vestal since 1940, Annie was one of the first cheerleaders of the then-new Vestal Central High School and she much preferred Mechanical Drawing over Home Ec. Artistic and a free-spirit all her life, Ann Marie was always at the forefront of any activity in which she was involved: providing support to service members during WWII, a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, Life Member in the Candor American Legion Auxiliary, and a member of the Vestal Historical Society. The family extends deep gratitude to Lourdes Hospice, especially nurses Hannah and Marlene and the caring staff of Lourdes Hospital 1 Ross. The family will receive visitors Wednesday, March 7, 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 801 Main Street, Vestal, with a Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Old Vestal Road, Vestal, NY 13850.
