Obituary of Sharon M. Mang

Sharon A. Mang Sharon A. Mang of Vestal Sharon A. (McManus) Mang of Vestal, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her family on July 10, 2009 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was predeceased by her parents, Edwin and Doris McManus; and brothers, Edwin, Joseph, and Matthew McManus. She is survived by her loving husband of over 41 years, Robert C. Mang; daughters, Tracy (Jay) Wood, Karen (Albert) Tricomi, Rebecca (Michael) Polek; grandchildren, Jack Wood, Julia, Charles, and Miriam Tricomi, Simon and Maya Polek; sisters, Marci Fiorelli, Joanne (Richard) Nolan, Helen (William) Kostun, Kathleen (Charles) Porter; brothers, Donald (Kathleen), William, David (Patricia), Michael (Terry), and James (Linda) McManus; brothers and sisters-in-law, James (Audrey) and Peter (Sandra) Mang, Katherine Mang-Haag; over 50 nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Sharon was a loving wife, devoted mother, and proud grandmother. She enjoyed a long career as a nurse working at Lourdes Hospital, Georgetown University Hospital, New Rochelle Hospital, the Binghamton University Student Help Service, and at Vestal Medical Associates. She was most proud of the years spent caring for the Vietnam veterans at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Buffalo. Sharon was an active member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church and volunteered with the Girl Scouts, Mom's House, and Hospice. She enjoyed hiking and camping, lattes and lunch with friends, and laughing and dancing with her grandchildren. Sharon's family would like to thank the countless friends and relatives who have so generously loved and supported us during her long journey home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 157 Clark St., Vestal. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery, Brackney, PA. The family will receive their friends on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 765 Main St., Vestal.
