Obituary of Priscilla Garringer

Endicott - Priscilla Garringer, 78, of Endicott NY entered the gates of heaven to be reunited with her beloved husband, Ronald Garringer, on Sunday, June 17, 2018 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She is predeceased by her parents, Caroline and Floyd Wheeler and her brother John Wheeler. She is survived by her daughters, Suzanne Garringer Braden, (Paul) and Amy Garringer Nichols; her brothers Michael Wheeler and Mark Wheeler (Valerie); her granddaughters Caroline Murphy (Bryan) and Jacqueline Geist (Jared); and her Great Granddaughters, Melina Murphy and June Geist and several nieces and nephews. Priscilla was the Mary Poppins of Grandmothers and tragically never was able to enjoy her great granddaughters due to the effects of Alzheimer's disease. Priscilla graduated from Union Endicott High School in 1957. She met the love of her life, Ronald Garringer, who used to wait for her to close up Lamb's Ice Cream Store (her first job); he knew she would be a good wife by the way she mopped the floor at the shop. After attending Alfred State University, Priscilla and Ronald married on May 29, 1959. Priscilla worked at IBM and took time off to raise her daughters, Suzanne and Amy, and her honorary daughter Penny Bennett Brewster. During these years she kept busy selling Dutch Maid clothing and worked at Dale Carnegie. Priscilla became a secretary at Charles F Johnson Elementary school, and then went back to work at IBM. After retiring from IBM, she became the Executive Assistant to the Vice President of Binghamton Savings Bank. After retirement from BSB, Priscilla became a Village of Endicott Trustee; she was always an advocate for the betterment of her community. Priscilla always had a craft, sewing, cooking or baking project that she was working on to share with family and friends. She had a passion for gardening and antiquing; filling her home with unique and eclectic treasures. She brought love and care to all who knew her and left us with many valuable life lessons and skills. While we grieve her passing, we rejoice that she is whole and at peace. The family thanks the staff of Vestal Park Nursing Home for their compassionate care. Join us to celebrate her life at Coleman and Daniels Funeral Home in Endicott NY on Friday, June 29, 2018.
